American Buffalo Gold Coins
American Buffalo is a 24 Karat gold bullion coin which offered for sale on June 22.2006 by United States of Mint. The coin is embossed with Indian head on the obverse and on the reverse with American Bison.
This was the first time that United States government has minted 24 Karat of pure gold for the public. The coin’s value is US$50.The initial price of proof coin in 2006 and 2007 was $800 and $ 899.95 accordingly.

The design of the American Buffalo is the modified version of James Earle Fraser’s Indian Head nickel of 1913.The converse of the coin is of Indian face and the reverse of the coin, stands an American Bison, commonly referred as buffalo.

• By law the gold should be mined in United states Mint but all coins are struck at west point
• The Native American on the observe believed to be three different men who used to model for Fraser

Conclusion
On July 22, the mint transferred two coins to the Smithsonian Institution for its historic value. From Sep 26, 2008 the United States Mint called American Buffalo gold coins for a halt because it cannot match up the soaring demand.
